Complex PTSD (CPTSD) Therapy

Safety is hard to find after prolonged trauma.

Living with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) can feel like you’re just trying to get through each day.

Even the most minor tasks can feel impossible. Relationships may feel shaky or untrustworthy, work can feel unbearable, and no matter where you are, it may feel like you can’t quite get comfortable in your skin.

When you’ve lived through prolonged abuse or trauma, it can leave you feeling like a shell of yourself – disconnected, exhausted, and unable to feel safe in your own body or your own experience. Some days might feel like you’re moving through fog, carrying a heaviness in your mind and body that doesn’t let up. You might long for closeness but find yourself pulling away, or feel stuck in endless cycles of anger, shame, and despair.

If this sounds familiar, please know you’re not broken. These struggles are not who you are – they’re the echoes of what you’ve been through.

What is Complex PTSD?

CPTSD is different from trauma that comes from a single event. It often develops after months or years of repeated neglect, abuse, or betrayal.

While symptoms of PTSD, like flashbacks, nightmares, or hypervigilance, can be part of it, CPTSD often runs deeper. Many describe always feeling on guard, disconnected from themselves, or unsure how to regulate emotions. Shame, guilt, and self-doubt can creep into every part of life.

You may have tried therapy before and wondered why it didn’t help. That’s not your fault. Many traditional approaches are built to focus on one root cause, but with CPTSD, there often isn’t just one. The pain comes from many big and small moments over time. That’s why it can feel impossible to “pinpoint” the problem.

In CPTSD therapy with me, we won’t try to reduce your life to one event. Instead, we’ll work together to create safety in the present and future through grounding, mindfulness, and storytelling. We’ll make sense of the emotions that come from not just one trauma, but the layered experiences you’ve survived.

Counseling can make a difference.

Healing from CPTSD begins with feeling safe. In our work together, I’ll bring honesty, warmth, and guidance so you never feel alone. I’ll help put words to what may have felt unspeakable and honor your story exactly as it is.

Therapy isn’t about forcing you into a mold or rushing you to “move on.” It’s about moving at your pace.

Together, we’ll practice calming your body and mind and creating a healing space while gently exploring your story. As we do, you’ll begin to notice the strengths you’ve built just by surviving. Those strengths can become the foundation for a future where you no longer feel defined by trauma but by safety, choice, and connection.

Here’s my approach to CPTSD therapy.

What matters most is that you feel seen, safe, and respected. You don’t need to sugarcoat anything with me. I’m here to help you honor the truth of your life, even the parts that feel too heavy to share.

I’ll hold space for your most difficult stories with compassion and care.

My role is to guide you when things feel overwhelming, to offer structure when you need it, and to remind you of the strength you carry even when you can’t see it yourself.

My work is deeply rooted in honoring your truth and helping you build a more grounded, connected, and hopeful future.
